EDDIE RICE CLUB KIDS

What is Eddie Rice Club Kids?
Eddie Rice Club Kids is a core programme of Edmund Rice Camps for Kids W.A. Inc. and is committed to continuing the ideals of Edmund Rice. Within an atmosphere of fun and friendship, Eddie Rice Club Kids encourages children to develop personal life skills and a sense of belonging to a community.

The Eddie Rice Club Kids programme offers a variety of recreational opportunities for 8-13 year olds. The programme takes a developmental approach, facilitating outcomes according to the young people's maturity, interests and motivations. Eddie Rice Club Kids assists by providing positive interactions between children of different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, faith and traditions through participation in activities, incursions and excursions that promote values of care and compassion, responsibility, integrity, respect, understanding, inclusion and tolerance.

Aims
Eddie Rice Club Kids aims are:

  1. For the children who attend Eddie Rice Club Kids to have fun and feel encouraged to be themselves in an inclusive environment;
  2. To facilitate the development of positive life skills;
  3. To develop interpersonal skills;
  4. To develop a sense of belonging to a community, and;
  5. To provide a safe and fun environment where parents and guardians feel comfortable leaving their children for the afternoon.

Who are the participants of Eddie Rice Club Kids?
Eddie Rice Club Kids participants are aged 7 to 13 years. Within the primary school environment participants are chosen by the school staff as children who are at risk and in need of the programme.

What happens at Eddie Rice Club Kids?
Much of the programme is centre based including cooking, craft and sport, with a focus on co-operation and self-development.  The Club also runs a number of reward excursions, that include activities such as bowling, skating, visists to educational centre's, visits to culturally significant places of interest and so on.

Who runs Eddie Rice Club Kids?
Eddie Rice Club Kids is run by two staff members of Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA.  Volunteer Leaders from Edmund Rice Camps for Kids WA are welcomed and encouraged to attend to assist the facilitation of the programme.
We especially encourage volunteer leaders to share any special talents or interest with the kids (dancing, theatre sports, art, music, sport, magic) to broaden the scope of activities the kids are exposed to.
